Hi! I’m Ella Weltner, an artist and art educator living in Portland, Oregon. I grew up in Boise, Idaho where my mother taught me art in elementary school. My goal as a teacher is to teach art with the confidence, clarity, and creativity my mother taught me and my classmates. I began my art teacher journey in my early 20’s, when I created art projects for my roommates to do for fun while I was pursuing a degree at Portland State University. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree, specializing in textile art, sculpture, and acrylic painting. I then completed my Masters in Art Education degree from Portland State University in June 2024. The program provided me the incredible opportunity to teach art as a student teacher at West Sylvan Middle School. After graduating, I taught art at Oregon City High School and coached volleyball at the middle school level.
I am currently the Assistant Curator at Studio Art Direct where we focus on putting local art in architecture. I continue to develop my artistic practice by making set designs for theater productions, photo shoots, window displays, etc. I am currently taking commissions.
